There are many reasons you might want to remove EXIF data from your photos:

  • You're sharing images online and don’t want to reveal GPS location
  • You're sending work to a client and prefer to strip device info
  • You're uploading to a service that exposes EXIF in the user interface
  • You're preparing photos for public use or redistribution

Whatever your reason, removing EXIF metadata is easy once you know how.

Option 1: Use StorePhotos

If you're using StorePhotos.ca, you can remove EXIF data with one click using the metadata tools. You can remove GPS coordinates only, clear all fields selectively, or strip everything completely.

Option 2: On Windows

  1. Right-click the image and choose Properties
  2. Go to the Details tab
  3. Click Remove Properties and Personal Information
  4. Choose whether to remove selectively or create a stripped copy

Option 3: On Mac

Unfortunately, macOS doesn't offer a built-in EXIF remover via Finder. However, you can use the Preview app to export images in a stripped-down format, or use free tools like ImageOptim.

Option 4: Online Tools

Sites like exifremove.com let you drag and drop images to remove EXIF metadata. Be cautious when using online tools — you’re uploading your images to a third party.

Removing EXIF doesn’t affect image quality, but it does make the file slightly smaller and more private. If you plan to print, archive, or submit photos professionally, consider keeping an original with full EXIF intact and using a stripped version for sharing.
